Katie Moore's Inside Edit: Everything We Talked About on Ep 114
If you've ever looked at Katie Moore's Instagram and wondered how her makeup always looks that good, this episode is for you.
Katie's a Sydney makeup artist who trained in New Zealand, cut her teeth on music videos and a stint on the TV series Spartacus, then moved to Sydney in 2014 and built a career across fashion, e-com and bridal. These days bridal is a big part of what she does, and she credits a chunk of that to having an agent, Kelly, from an agency Katie named on the podcast (unclear on audio, heard as "Future Misses") who runs her wedding bookings and trials so she's not buried in admin between jobs.
We talked career path, how she handles the quiet months, and why she doesn't really set goals in the traditional sense. Then we got into it: the actual products in our kits.
Katie's kit favourites
Merit Great Skin Duo — Katie layers this under foundations, The Great Skin Serum and The Great Skin Moisturiser.
Merit Minimalist Foundation Stick — good for commercial work, event clients and male grooming. Doubles as foundation and concealer.
NARS Copacabana Stick — a cream to powder highlight stick she uses after skin prep, before foundation. Discontinuted
Tom Ford Soleil Eye Quad, shade Moonlight Dip — a gilded shimmer (not glitter), works wet or dry.
Kit tools she swears by
Own Beauty cluster lashes, the fluffy 03, L curve — good for a lift on hooded eyes.
Surratt Eyelash Curler — her long time favourite curler.
This Works Stress Check Roll On Oil and Stress Check Spray — used on pressure points before starting a bride's makeup.
The Merit brush, used for contour and general blending.
Vanessa’s kit favourites from the episode
KMS Thermal Shape Two in One Spray — a dry setting spray with hold, used before hot tools.
